Research

Play is a phenomenon that has been observed and studied throughout history. Play is observed to occur in all mammal species. Human and play is a dynamic that seems to have an integral bond and play and playful behaviour in the development of early childhood in humans is an aspect that can not be ignored. The topic of play in adults has been studied in the past and in recent times, there is an increasing interest in how play affects humans in their adulthood. This study is a small contribution built upon the knowledge of the past to the increasing knowledge well that look at the play and playful behaviour in adults. Tick Task, with its foundation built from the findings of this study, is a design concept responds to the need to elevate the social interaction in adults in a more playful and spontaneous direction.

How it works

Tick Task aims and objectives are validated through conversations with potential users and their interaction with the concept prototypes. Through the simple approach to functions that Tick Task offer, the affordance of the concept is increased in proportion with the users’ creativity and their knowledge of their specific context. For example, when Tick Task is used in a cooking and baking environment, the users know what they need to do and how long the task needs to go on for. The implementation of Tick Task allows the users to apply their creativity in how they organise the tasks and manage the time set for each task.
